Intric launches pilot for sovereign AI infrastructure in municipal administration

Piloting the AI platform in the City of Regensburg expands Intric's collaboration with German municipal authorities.

Intric has launched a pilot project with the City of Regensburg to test AI-assisted workflows in municipal administration. The solution is GDPR-compliant and operates entirely within European infrastructure.

The pilot is being conducted across multiple departments within the City of Regensburg's administration. Use cases include AI-assisted translation, research and analysis of information, and the drafting of documents. The city is evaluating the system as a unified, cross-departmental platform.

– German municipal authorities are subject to data protection obligations that most AI platforms are simply not built for. The data generated in administrative processes and citizen services requires a particularly high level of protection. What this pilot is meant to answer is not whether sovereign AI is possible here, but how it can work in practice across different departments – under the conditions that actually apply, says David Wallén, CEO of Intric.

Through this AI pilot, Regensburg aims to gradually explore how AI can support its employees in their day-to-day tasks without the city administration sacrificing its digital sovereignty.
