Intric CEO Meets Sweden's Minister for Public Administration on Sovereign AI for the Public Sector

Stockholm, 25 March 2026 — Intric, a Swedish sovereign AI infrastructure company, recently met with Minister for Public Administration Erik Slottner and his adviser Natanael Kvidal to discuss the role of private suppliers in delivering sovereign AI to Sweden's public institutions.
Sweden's government AI strategy is clear: public sector institutions should not build AI solutions from scratch. The responsibility falls on companies capable of meeting the demands of critical institutions — delivering at scale, and doing so without compromising the governance and control those institutions require. During the meeting, Slottner outlined what he expects from industry: share knowledge about what works, highlight concrete deployments, and grow large enough to deliver at meaningful scale.
"The government's direction is consistent with what we see across our customer base," said David Wallén, CEO of Intric. "Institutions that have built on proven infrastructure rather than developing it themselves move faster and carry less operational risk. Our deployments across municipalities and public agencies over the past several years are what this strategy looks like in practice. The model works."
Intric serves 60+ customers, the majority in the public sector. Municipalities including Stockholm Stad, Katrineholm, and Lidköping are among the institutions that have deployed Intric's platform to build and operate AI assistants within their own infrastructure.
The government's direction extends into procurement. In February 2026, the Swedish government tasked Kammarkollegiet with designing a dynamic procurement system for digital solutions, allowing qualified suppliers to remain available for public procurement without repeated re-qualification. The initiative is intended to reduce barriers for smaller Swedish and European suppliers and strengthen Sweden's digital sovereignty.
"Public sector organisations carry the most responsibility of any sector in society," Wallén added. "They should not be technologically disadvantaged because of it. That is the principle we build around, and it is the direction the government has confirmed."
